Boise State men's basketball tied with New Mexico at halftime

No. 19 New Mexico topped Boise State 79-74 in overtime, snapping the Broncos' seven-game winning streak and handing Boise State its first Mountain West loss of the year.

New Mexico led for much of the five-minute overtime period.

Boise State and New Mexico were tied at 63 after the regulation at Taco Bell Arena in Boise on Wednesday night.

New Mexico's Hugh Greenwood tied the game on a drive to the basket with 54 seconds left. The teams traded poor shots on the ensuing possessions with New Mexico's Kendall Williams missing a shot at the buzzer.

The Broncos (13-3, 1-1 in the Mountain West) led by as many as nine in the first half. Derrick Marks, who led all scorers with 13 points in the first 20 minutes, scored in the lane to extend the Broncos' edge to 32-23 with four minutes, six seconds remaining.

New Mexico (16-2, 3-0 MW) outscored the Broncos 14-5 in the final four minutes. Tony Snell led the Lobos with 12 first-half points. Center Alex Kirk, a 7-footer, had just two points ? on free throws ? in the first half.

The Broncos played without backup center Kenny Buckner, who was serving the second game of a three-game suspension for violating team rules. Center Ryan Watkins had eight points and five rebounds in the first half.
